Phil Porter started this campaign on Sunday, June 27, 2010. It came to him as he was preparing for a sermon he gave at First Congregational Church of Berkeley, United Church of Christ, where he serves part-time as Minister of Art & Communication.

“Many political groups (mostly conservative it seems) are really good at figuring out a phrase that they can repeat often enough that it seems true. This short phrase has the advantage of actually being true. As it gets stated over and over it will literally change people’s minds. New things will come out of it. Just by repeating it. Over and over and over and over.”

Until now I wasn’t aware of who created this blog. And I’m happy to finally see this side of you… if you would call this a side.

Your intro seems to be hopping over areas that are laden with land mines. I’m sure I’d like to learn about this too.

It also is a little stronger than a hope in me, that we are capable of understanding directly the connection between our sleepwalking lifestyle wants & actions, and consequences produced upon on beloved earth and self.

I see this new intelligence, finally after a thousand years, rising joyfully in mass from the ashes and not simply from gradual change. It’s the prospect of this fever breaking soon that excites me.

Can we then also say, “There is no couture in oil?”
